We are proposing, once again, to hold a Harvest Festival assembly in school. The activity will take place on Tuesday 19th September with the aim of encouraging our children to think about the importance of food and the fact that many people in this country and around the world often don’t have enough to eat. We are asking each child to make a voluntary donation of a tinned or dry packet food item which we could then use to make a display for the assembly. Please note that this donation is voluntary and that there is no mufti day attached!
I have been in contact, once again, with the local CARE charity which is run from Ainsdale Methodist Church but which is supported by all of the local churches and which provides a valuable service to disadvantaged members of our community. The donations will then be given to the local foodbank and the soup kitchen. We often receive letters of thanks from recipients who were not only pleased with the food donated but were happy that people, and especially younger people, were thinking about them.
We will be pleased to receive any donations from Friday 15th September.
Children in Year 5
On Thursday 21st September at 10am, our Year 5 children have been invited to take part in a short service at the Methodist church together with children from Kings Meadow Primary School. During that service, they will take some of the donated food and present it to CARE. You are welcome to attend should you wish.
Please could any Year 6 children who will be away during the week of 18th September at PGL and who wish to contribute make sure that they bring their donations in on 15th September.
