Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
I am writing, with regret, to let you know that, due to a lack of helpers, we have been forced to cancel this Saturday’s Summer Fair. Despite request for help, we would have started the Fair with only nine helpers which, given the nature of some of the events – bouncy castles, barbecues, slippery pole and so on – would have posed safety risks for the children as well as placing a great burden on those able to help. Even with others able to support later, we would only have had fourteen adult helpers by the end of the event.
I would like to thank the FISH members and others who offered their support for the Fair and spent a lot of time in preparation. I would also like to thank those who have helped us in the past but, for a variety of reasons, were unable to commit this time. Coming shortly after the Race Night which also had to be cancelled due to a lack of support, I appreciate that it can be rather dispiriting.
FISH have raised valuable funds to enhance the educational and wider experience of children at Shoreside in the past and, we hope, will continue to do so in future. In order to do this, we need the support of parents. Please consider getting involved – many hands make light work! It is also a means of getting to meet other parents and having fun whilst providing practical support for the school.
